Storyboard Text

  • Do you Newton's first law of motion? I have a test on all three of them and I'm super confused!
  • Of course! The first law of motion is the law of inertia. Inertia means that whether an object is at rest or in motion, it will stay that way unless acted on by and unbalanced force.
  • Hey Peyton! Are you having trouble with the second law of motion? I'd be happy to help!
  • Not anymore I just need an example! I looked the second law of up on the internet but its still a little fuzzy. Newton's second law of motion states that acceleration is produced when an unbalanced force acts on an object.
  • So I guess this is our last "study session" of the day huh? Last but not least, Newton's third law of motion!
  • Okay, so the third law of motion states that for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction that acts with the same momentum and with opposite velocity
  • One example of the law of inertia is to think of a ball rolling down a hill. A ball rolling down a hill will continue to roll unless friction or another force stops it.
  • I get it now! Thank you so much Brooke! I might need help with the second law later so meet me at the sunflower garden!
  • That's right! An example of the second law of motion is if you use the same force to push a truck and a car, the car will have more acceleration than the truck because the car has less mass.
  • Oh! Thank you so much Brooke, one more law left!
  • An example of the third law is when you jump off a small rowing boat into water, you will push yourself forward towards the water. The force you used to push off the boat will make the boat go backwards.
  • I cannot explain how grateful I am to have a super rad friend like you! I'm totally going to ace this test!
