My cute twin boys will one day be all grown up and run the city.
No one will be overtaking my throne. They are sure to die soon if I send them down this river.
This is Romulus and Remus and they are the twin brothers who founded the city of Rome. Here is there story.
A princess named Rhea Silvia gave birth to twin boys which she named Romulus and Remus. The king where the boys lived had worried that one day they would take over his throne.
Your fence sucks! I bet I can easily climb over that.
The king put the twins in a basket and sent them down the river, in hopes that they would eventually die.
Look at the beautiful city I have created. I will be a great ruler.
Later on, the boys were found be a wolf who cared for and protected them. As the boys grew older, they became natural born leaders. They eventually came to a place which is known today as Rome and they liked the area a lot. Although, they both wanted the city to be on opposite sides of the hill.
Romulus began to build a fence around one of the hills. Remus was jealous and began to make fun of his fence. He was even jumping over the wall to show how easy it was to get over. Romulus became very angry and killed Remus.
Romulus began working on his city. He officially founded the city on April 21, 753 BC, making himself king. He named the city "Rome" after himself and from there began to organize his city.
