Storyboard Text

  • The Screwtape Letter 4: Madison McRae Drew Prater Cooper Wills Caelan Lebryk
  • We need to direct the patient away from prayer at all costs!
  • "When the patient is an adult recently reconverted to the Enemy's party, like your man, this is best done by encouraging him to remember, or to think he remembers, the parrot-like nature of his prayers in childhood."
  • Wormwood needs to make the patient focus on his own feelings and decisions rather than on prayer. The patient might be leaning towards prayer.
  • I want to pray to make me feel better
  • "Whenever there is prayer, there is a danger of His own immediate action. He is cynically indifferent to the dignity of His positions, and ours, as pure spirits, and to human animals on their knees He pours out self-knowledge in a quite shameless fashion."
  • God is all powerful and Screwtape does not think that humans are aware of this. God created the universe and Screwtape thinks that humans pray to the cross, not to Him.
