The Treasure Hunt
Hey Neil! Wanna come over to my house afterschool and walk around in the woods and see what we find?
Yeah! That sounds great, Barry. I'm always up for an adventure!
After School in the Woods...
I'm not sure. It kinda looks like a map. Lets go check it out!
Hey Barry, What is that over there on the ground?
Wow! Lets find the quickest way to get there.
Barry! It is a treasure map! Look!
On the map the angle of elevation is 55° and the side adjacent to the angle is 200. If Barry and Neil were to walk in a straight line toward the mark on the map, how far do they have to walk?
If you use Tan you will get Tan(55)= x/200. To get x alone you multiply by 200. You get 200Tan(55)=x. X=285.63 feet. The boys walk this to find what the treasure is.
An abandoned treehouse! Wow!
