Situational Irony-is irony in which the actions of a character produce an outcome that is opposite to the intended out come
Verbal irony-occurs when a speaker says something contradictory to what he intends to say
Dramatic Irony-is when the audience knows something that in which they know something that differs from the character so the character's words and action then take on a different meaning
Your the reason I've been suffering all these years all because of that stupid necklace we lost it and had gotten a replacement
Ohh, my poor Matilde the necklace was a fake it was only worth but 400 francs
Ohh, but I can't go if I don't have a dress to go in
I've got An Invitation to expensive party I know you have been dieing to go
This is situational irony because she had suffered for 10 years to pay off something that was a mistake and it all could've been avoided if her and her husband had just swallowed there pride and told Mme. Foreister to begin with.
This is verbal irony because we now that she has a dress that she goes to the movies in but she doesn't want to where it because she doesn't want to look poor, witch is what she thinks, but we know hat she wouldn't look poor. It's just selfishness.
This is how she saw what she had before she lost the necklace, and had to live in poverty for 10 years, suddenly, doesn't look that bad and cheap now, does it. We the audience also know that she doesn't actually live that poorly because of her husbands job clerks are actually paid fairly well.
