  • Fortunado insulted the narrator, so the narrator was planning to get revenge on Fortunato.
  • Fortunato insulted me, so I'm getting revenge on him.
  • The Montresors were a great and numerous family.
  • I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts.
  • The narrator decides lure Fortunato to drink the Amontillado.
  • How? Amontillado? A pipe? Impossible! And in the middle of a carnival!
  • I have my doubts.
  • The narrator said he had his doubts because Fortunato wants to taste the Amontillado, and the narrator said he was going to get Luchesi, but Fortunato said that Luchesi is an ignorant person.
  • Amontillado!
  • The narrator is taking Fortunato to the Montresors' catacombs, asking him if he wants to go upstairs so he doesn't get sick, but Fortunato insists on trying the Amontillado.
  • Niter.
  • Niter?
  • The narrator and Fortunato are at the Montresors' wine vaults.
  • These vaults are extensive.
  • The narrator tied Fortunato to the stone and built a wall. Fortunato eventually died.
