  • Exposition: This story contains with characters of the greaser gang, (birds). The stories other characters include the group of the Socs, (monkeys). The conflict in this story is about the two different social classes, the greasers and the socs.
  • Climax
  • One pat of the rising action is when Johnny killed Bob. This is because the Docs were fighting them, but Bob was about to drown Ponyboy so he killed him in self defense so Ponyboy wouldn't die.
  • Falling Action
  • When Johnny and Ponyboy are hiding it in an abandoned church. They leave to get food when Dally comes, but little did they know that they left a cigarette lighted. When they come back the church is on fire, trapping some kids inside. they go and rescue them but Johnny got severely burned and a wooden beam hit his back, causing him to break his back.
  • Resolution
  • "The Outsiders"
  • The climax of the story is when Johnny dies. He dies because of his severe burns and of the church, partially collapsing on him. From this point on, everything when down hill quickly for the greasers.
  • Dally couldn't take the mental pressure anymore so he robbed a store and ran from the police trying to shoot them. But he failed and as a result, the police shot him with nothing else to do.
  • In the end, Ponyboy learns how to cope with the problems of life. After the time with two deaths and its of fights, he receives a great learning experience for his future. On the other hand, with his concussion he starts failing one of his classes. So his teachers asks him to write a story of his life and thats when he writes, The Outsiders.
