Storyboard Text

  • Arnold
  • Rowdy
  • Mr. P
  • " You can't give up. You won't give up. You threw that book in my face because somewhere inside of you refuses to give up."
  • " She's so beautiful."
  • " I wanted to run faster than the speed of sound, but nobody, no matter how much pain they're in, can run that fast. So i heard the boom of my father's rifle when he shot my best friend."pg.14 This quote is significant because they didn't have money to take care of a dog and that was something that Arnold didn't understand. His parents cared for him and his dog but they didn't have the money to care for him and they killed the dog so it can be easier for both of them.."  (pg. 14)
  • Penelope
  • "And he didn't tell nobody. Rowdy was my secret-keeper." This quote is significant because Rowdy has always been there. Rowdy has been the only person he had trusted and the only one that has stood up for him Arnold couldn't at himself. (pg. 76 )
  • Grandma
  • " He called me a chief and squaw boy."
  • " You've been fighting since you were born," he said. " You fought off that brain surgery. You fought off those seizures. You fought off all the drunks and drugs addicts. You kept your hope. And now, you have to take your hope and go somewhere other people have hope." This quote is significant because it tells us how someone cares for him and they don't want him to lose hope and keep going on with his life because he can do better and he can leave the reservation. ( pg. 43 )
  • Mary
  • " After High School, my sister just froze. Didn't go to college, didn't get a job. that's sad."
  • " Penelope still treated me pretty much the same. She didn't really say much to me. And I didn't really say much to her." This quote is significant because Arnold is learning that you can't change just to impress someone you like they will be with you and care for you if they really liked you for who you are.  (pg. 81 )
  • " Then you should have kicked him in the balls."
  • " Yeah, but you punch the alpha dog in the face," She said. " They're going to respect you now." This quote is significant because his grandma is teaching him how he needs to protect himself protect himself showing everyone who he really is and not just a simple Indian boy.  (pg. 37)
  • "It was weird that a teacher was telling me things i didn't know about my sister. It made me wonder what else i didn't know about her. This quote is significant because it shows how not only did he not know his sister that well but they were just the same they both did things that no one knew about. They would hide everything because they were scared to let other know.  (pg. 37)
