The story takes place on Venus. Margot had blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin and was very thin. Margot always stood apart from all the others.
The sun is like a penny. Or like a fire in a stove.
That's not true. She doesn't remember.
The sun on Venus only came out every seven years. Margot was the only one in her class to remember the sun. Her classmates were jealous of her.
Today was the day that the sun was predicted to come out. Margot was looking out the window waiting for the sun when William came up to her.
What are you looking at?
Well, don’t wait around here. You won’t see nothing!
Nothing’s happening today. Is it?
What are you waiting for
Speak when you’re spoken to!
By now William's friends came.
All a joke. Hey, everyone, let’s put her in a closet before the teacher comes
Oh, but. But this is the day, the scientists predict, they say, they know, the sun…
Then, smiling, the turned and went out and back down the tunnel, just as the teacher arrived
Margot was pleading, and crying. She was brought to a closet, where they slammed and locked the door. William and friends stood looking at the door and saw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it. They heard her muffled cries.
