  • Mexicans Welcome Americans
  • You are very welcome, but remember, you need to convert to our culture.
  • Thank you for allowing me and my family to come and live on your land.
  • Of course!
  • "I thought that father said that we wouldn't do that ??"
  • New Dictator of Mexico
  • I am not the President, I am the Dictator!
  • Guard, go start collecting all of the American's weapons.
  • Yes, Sir!
  • Battle of Gonzales
  • We are here for the cannon!
  • Come and Take it!
  • The Mexicans were allowing Americans to come into Texas and they were hoping that the Americans would convert to their culture and become loyal citizens of Mexico. The immigrants decided to ignore this, they kept their language, formed their own schools, and they had closer trading with the United States than the Mexicans.
  • Battle of the Alamo
  • This is our 4th day in a row. I'm tired!
  • The President of Mexico, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, became the dictator of Mexico by overruling the constitution. He realized that the Americans were very likely to overthrow the Mexicans. He decided to start disarming all of the American Texans.
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • Houston said to blow up the bridge, but I need to do it quick.
  • In this battle, the Mexican soldiers were sent to retrieve the cannon that they had given to the Americans. The Americans knew that the cannon didn't really shoot, but they used this to their advantage. They scared the Mexicans off with the sound of the cannon. The Americans were able to win a battle without fighting.
  • Texas Statehood
  • John, Marry, we're a state! We are officially a state!!
  • In the Battle of the Alamo, Mexican troops were sent to take back fort Alamo. Even though the Mexicans had at least nine times the amount of soldiers, the Americans were able to hold them off for 13 days.
  • Grow Up Man!! Get a hold of yourself, this will be a long battle if we stay strong.
  • Erastus "Deaf" Smith was sent to destroy the Vince Bridge to prevent either side from retreating. Houston and his men were shielded by trees and a rise in the terrain. Then they came to the Mexican, and attacked them. It was significant because the battle only lasted for 18 minutes.
  • Texas officially became a state on December 29,1845. The only problem was that, for Texas to become a state, another state had to enter as a free state. This took a while to sort out, but it was able to work.
  • It's about time!
  • That's Wonderful!
