  • The Chinese were brought here from China to help build the railroads. In order to do that they had to use Nitroglycerin, which was a very dangerous explosive. Many of them got injured or worse killed.
  • Hurry!
  • Be careful!
  • There are so many of them.
  • They keep coming in.
  • Some Chinese stayed here in America after the railroad recruits, while some left. The Chinese started going into the cites and getting jobs.
  • The Chinese were beaten, shot, lynched and called names. They were being discriminated by whites because of the thought that they were criminals and prostitutes.
  • KILL THEM!
  • They are dangerous!
  • I am here to collect your monthly taxes.
  • They were paid less and needed to pay more for there taxes. Then in 1879 a law passed saying it was illegal for someone to hire a Chinese worker. The Chinese had no more jobs to do.
  • LEAVE NOW! GET OUT!
  • In 1882 the Chinese Exclusion Act passes which does not allow Chinese immigrants to be in the United States. The Chinese were kicked out.
  • The U.S. Representative of Washington, Warren Magnuson has signed the law.
  • 60 Years later the Chinese Exclusion Repeal Act stopped the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act.
