Gatsby wants people to know he is rich, "everybody seen it. it was a rich cream color..." he is materialistic (Fitzgerald 64). Gatsby wants people to know he is rich because he wants to get Daisy back .
On the way to West Egg, "you take Nick and Jordan We will follow you in the coupe" Gatsby and daisy rode together in Tom's coupe (Fitzgerald 121). At this point, Tom did not know about the affair so he did not think it was a problem for Daisy and Gatsby to ride together.
On the way back to East Egg, Gatsby and Daisy rode back in his car while the others were in Tom's Coupe. While on the way back to East Egg, “the death car, as the newspapers called it, didn’t stop... then disappeared the next bend” Daisy was the one driving, so she was the one who hit myrtle (Fitzgeralde 137).
