  • The Schliefen Plan was hatched in 1914 by General Schlieffen
  • We must protect Belgium
  • The Germans marched through Belgium into France, getting the British involved through their alliegence with Belgium.
  • At the Battle of Mons the Germans suffered heavy casualties but pushed on through Mons further into France towards Paris.
  • When Russia attacked Germany, it forced the Germans to send troops east: meaning there were less troops on the offensive.
  • The French and British troops pushed the Germans back after a long time of deadlock.
  • Resulting in the failure of the Schlieffen plan!
