  • The year is 1832. Samuel F.B. Morse is returning from a trip to Europe.
  • Hmm... those men did seem passionate about the electromagnet when they talked... Maybe I should use it myself... and I know how!
  • I need to create something powerful...An electrical telegraph!
  • In 1835, Morse finally finished creating his first model of the electric telegraph.
  • I have done it! I have invented the electric telegraph!
  • Morse continued doing what he loved best after the invention until 1837. By then he gave full attention to his telegraph.
  • I would like to show you Mr. Joseph Henry's work. It involves electromagnetism.
  • And even though Samuel F.B. Morse's invention was powerful, he wasn't the first to think of it.
  • Unbeknownst to him, there was an idea like his that had been thought of since the beginning of the 1800's.
