In the buses in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955, the buses were for whites only in the front and colored people at theback of the bus. The colored section took 75% of the bus but the driver can move their sign and move them for the whites to sit any time if the front is full and the colored will have to stand up
One day, after working, Rosa Parks was sitting in the first row after the white section. She was still in her section but the driver can move the sign any time and change their places for the white people to sit in the middle so that they don't have to stand up. When the white people asked the 4 blacks that were sitting to move, they were refusing at first then we he shouted and insisted they al got up except Rosa Parks.
MOVE SO I CAN SIT DOWN!
I WILL CALL THE POLICE IF YOU DONT MOVE!
Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat which led to the police getting called because she broke one of the laws so she now had to pay what she did.
I WONT MOVE!
YOU MAY DO THAT
Rosa Parks was found guilty and the 4th day after that, she was fined 10$ plus 4$ in law court cost. But the day she got arrested, the Women’s Political Council issued 35,000 leaflets announcing a bus boycott and the boycott was encouraged in black churches and they were asked to stay off the buses for 1 day, and on newspapers to spread the incident across the world.
People agreed to continue the boycott after their success in the first day. All the colored gathered in Black Churches and discussed boycott strategies and deciding if they continue the boycott. The group agreed for an organization called "Montgomery Improvement Association"Also, Martin Luther King Was elected as leader
After the success the people continued their boycott and instead of riding the busses, people walked, shared cars or moved around with black operated cabs. Also, the Fee was the same as the bus.
