Greg: The Undercover Architect By: Maia Davenport
This is Greg. Greg is a fourteen year old kid in high school. Greg is usually a pretty normal kid. However, when it's night time he has a big secret.
Greg was a undercover architect for his town. He either repaired or build most of the town buildings. Using his skills in building and math he could finish a assignment before twelfth o'clock in the morning.
The first thing he ever build was his working shed. To find the side measurement of the shed, he use the angle that he found ( which is 45 degrees). The base of the shed was 30in.He us the problem ,tangent,to set up the problem as tan45/1 = x/30. In which he multiplied 30tan(45) and his answer was 30in.
The second thing that he fixed was one of the gas pump station. The top part of the one of the pumps was destroyed by a tornado. Greg use another pump to find the distance from the top pump to the ground. He measured out the side to be 50in. He found the angle to be 35 degrees. Using the problem sine, He set up the problem as sin35/1 = 50/x. He then divided 50/sin35, and his answer was 87in.
His latest construction was the park slide. He notice that it was a high demand for the slide by elementary kids. Greg needed to find the angle for the slide He notice that the base was 20in, and the height was 35in. He use tan-1 to solve the problem. The problem was set up as tan-1=(35/20). Then he found out that the answer was 60 degrees.
