Emma is a refugee that arrives on Australian soil tired and hungry, but is turned away.
"Emma - Refugee Campaign" is based on hundreds of true stories. This is a heart-breaking tale to make people see how hard it is to be a refugee.
This is Emma. She lives somewhere very far away from here. Her country isn't very safe, so she has to move somewhere else. Some bad people won't let her move, so she has to sneak away.
Emma and some friends escaped in the middle of the night on a boat to get away from their bad country. She was leaving friends and family to get away - that's how bad it was.
THEY'RE COUNTING ON YOU!
Emma arrived at our own home - Australia! She arrived very tired and extremely hungry. She sought refuge, but because of our laws, she was put in a detention centre and wasn't allowed to work or have her own freedom. This has happened to many other people.
Now, Emma isn't exactly mistreated. She is given food and water and a bed. But she is not allowed to make her own decisions. She isn't given freedom. This happens to thousands of people.
To help change the law, help the A.S.R.C. by donating clothes. Also, take an S.A.S. flyer and think about donating to this society that raises money for the A.S.R.C.
