- Propylene is the chemical compound propene, which is an organic substance. An alkene is a colorless gaseous hydrocarbon with both the chemical formula C3H6 that is colorless at room temperature and pressure. The propylene bond is covalent. Propene, like other alkenes, experiences similar combustion processes. Propene burns in the presence of enough or too much oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water.
- Propylene glycol is released into the environment as a result of the manufacturing and processing of waste streams, as well as the disposal of industrial and consumer products that contain this component.
