Storyboard Text

  • I want to propose a new law to congress!
  • Here's my Bill.
  • Bill
  • Bill
  • I like and accept this bill
  • Every law starts with an idea. It can come from anyone. Contact an elected official and if the like your idea then they'll make it a bill.
  • Pass, pass, no pass.
  • Pass or no pass?
  • The Bill is introduced. In the House of Representatives, bills are placed in a wooden box called "the hopper".
  • This bill is now a law!
  • Law
  • The bill goes to a committee. Senators and Reps. meet in a small group to analyze the bill. They vote to accept or reject the bill and its changes before sending it on.
  • Yay! I made a law!
  • Congress debates and votes. Based on the majority's vote, that determines whether the bill goes to the President or not.
  • When the bill reaches the President, he can either approve and pass the bill. Once he signs the bill it becomes a Law. If he doesn't like it, then he can also veto it.
  • Once the Law is passed, then the person that made it is happy :)
