How he looked to the past
"Malice towards none..."
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness
How we should look to him
".....whatever happens, there will be no turning back"
Ulysseus S. Grant, was one man who listened to the past, and who people in the present and future should listen too. The work that he put in to make his country a better place, even with so much opposition, should be admired and should be a stepping stone for people today.
Grant fought for his country and the people in his country. He looked to what Abraham Lincoln was standing and fighting for before he died, and decided to take up the mantle. He looked to the Founding fathers, remembering that they believed all people had a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Ulysseus Grant was one of the better presidents that America has ever had. He stood up for what was right, even when many people would have had him dead for it. He took a stand, and was willing to fight and die for justice. Such an attitude, maybe nit so extreme, but similar to his would benefit society in hundreds of ways.
