  • In 1950 and 1951, Joe Louis returned to boxing. But was knocked out in his first fight and could not get his title back. In 1952, Joe Louis became the first African American to take part in a PGA tour event.
  • On April 12th, 1981 Joe Louis died of cardiac arrest. Today, Joe Louis still holds the title of the longest reign as a heavy weight champion at 12 years. He is considered one of the greatest prizefighters of all time.
