IVAN THE GREAT: 1440-1505
Me and my people are done paying you!
This Is a "fortress" that helps protect cities. Back in the fifteenth century, Moscow's kremlin was worn out, old, and very dirty. That's when I decided to help protect my people and rebuild it. I gathered the most talented builders in Russia together to build the new kremlin. Soon, wall's started springing up one by one, and we got one of the most beautiful and powerful Kremlins. You can read more about this on page 171.
IVAN REBUILDS THE KREMLIN
... and here, the new Kremlin!
This tower is actually the tallest structure in the Kremlin. In 1505, I hired a talented Italian architect to build the tower. Not only does it ring every hour, but it serves as a watchtower. When you climb up it, you can see very far out. You can read more about his on page 172.
IVAN'S GREAT TOWER
Hello, my name is Ivan the Terrible. I am Ivan the Greats Grandson. I ruled from 1530-1584. I am very hot tempered, and nothing can get in my way. You challenge what I choose? I pour boiling wine on your body. One of the worst acts I did was create torture devices and use them on people who were questioning me. You can read more about me on page 173.
IVAN THE TERRIBLE: 1530-1584
Please, sir! I beg you!
Off with his head!
PEASANTS IN RUSSIA
I paid almost no attention to peasant life in Russia. I decided that I could control peasants by forcing them to stay on the land that they were born on. I did not really care about them. You can read more about this on page 173-174.
To celebrate my victory over Kazan, I decided that I needed a cathedral in Moscow. My grandpa ordered foreigners to build his cathedrals, but I wanted Russians to do it. I needed it to be the most new, most radiant, and most majestic cathedral ever. You can read more about it on page 175.
