  • France is in debt

  • France was in debt because they spent more money than what was collected in taxes. Their problem wasn't that they spent to much, in fact they spent a normal amount. The problem was that they didn't have the money that they spent. 
  • Bastille 
  • King Louis tried to flee France but was caught on the German boarder and everyone was mad at him so they started voting if he should die or not. They were voting if he should get beheaded. Majority said yes so he was going to get beheaded. 
  • Declaration Rights
  • The declaration rights
  • People were crowding around him while he was trying to avoid being beheaded.  The kings of Europe were already in war at the time trying to spread liberty, equality, and fraternity. 
  • Reign of Terrors
  • Louis hesitated and ended up calling 18,000 soldiers to Versailles. In Paris the information about the national assembly was passed around to everyone. Riots broke out about working conditions and the prices of bread. People began to arm themselves because they were afraid. Then  on July fourteenth one group left for Bastille and in confusion a battle broke out. 
  • The declaration rights was a statement of the details of the revolution. The assembly declared that all people have the right of freedom and equality. The words of the revolution were liberty, equality, and fraternity. 
  • Robespierre decided who was the enemy. Anyone he accused was usually beheaded. Hundreds died each week. After a while of the same thing happening everyone including the leaders were tired of it and worried about it.
