Storyboard Text

  • Alright class! So today, we will be discussing cells so pay close attention! Cells have an agent that influences the properties of cells that is called a signal.
  • Who said cells couldn't have fun and had to be doing scientific things all the time? Right boys?!
  • Right boss! I mean, working all the time is stressful for us too. We also need times to communicate with one another and let loose!!
  • Cell communication, also referred to as cell signaling involves both incoming and outgoing signals. Cell signaling is important because cells need to respond to a changing environment.
  • Wow, that was exhausting! We always change as our environment is changing, and now is time for some rest.
  • For example, Direct intercellular signaling occurs when a signaling molecule passes between the cytosol of adjacent cells through a cell junction. During cellular signaling, the signaling molecule binding to it causes the receptor to become activated.
