Storyboard Text

  • I was a stranger to this tale...
  • Teiresias?
  • I have sent for him.
  • You are the madman. There is no one here who will not curse you soon, as you curse me.
  • Oedipus is telling the Choragos that he was clueless to Laïos' death, when he himself is the murderer. Not knowing enough leads to his downfall.
  • You sightless, witless, senseless, mad old man!
  • The Choragos suggests Oedipus should try to get Teiresias for answers but he says that he's already sent for him, showing that Oedipus has too much pride & is impulsive.
  • ...The man you have been looking at all this time, the damned man..
  • Teriesias is telling Oedipus, royalty, that soon people will curse him and disregard him in the same way that's he's doing to Teiresias.
  • Enough. Go think that over.
  • Teiresias realzies that Oedipus thinks physical sight is equal to insight.
  • Physical sight ≠ Insight
  • Teiresias is revealing Oedipus's inevitable fate of him becoming poor, blind, and weak.
  • Teriresias says what will become of Oedipus and his impending fate, leaving a cluster of information and feelings are spewed. (Purging)
