Today you will learn about the different diagrams in Chemistry, so please pay attention!
There are three types of diagrams. A Bohr and Energy level diagram show the electrons of an atom, or ion and Lewis diagram show only valence electrons.
What are the different types of diagrams and what do they show?
1. The period of the atom indicates the energy levels. 2. The first shell can only hold 2 electrons, and the second and third shell can hold 8 electrons. 3. In the middle write the atoms protons on top and neutrons on the bottom with the elements symbol.

1. Determine valence electrons 2. The group will tell amount of valence electrons of the atom 3. Write the element symbol and draw valence electrons around it
1. Write mass number on top and proton/atomic number on the bottom 2. Write the symbol of the atom 3. The period of the atom indicates the number of energy levels 4. The first level can only have 2 electrons, and the second level can have 8 electrons
