Praise and feedback in the lab
This storyboard does not have a description.
Oh no, do you really think so?
I'm afraid this is going to explode when I add it.
Jade, you followed the instructions really well and I saw that you were very precise when you measured out the reactants.
Better you than me, Jade!
Hmmm, I was careful...the teacher believes I haven't messed up...I guess I'll give it a try....
Wow, it worked!
Jade, I know you were a bit nervous but you executed that experiment so well: your attention to the details in the instructions was first rate - you should be proud of yourself!
I did it! Well, I mean at least I didn't blow up the school!
Jade is not confident in her lab skills. In the last lab she spilled some of the chemicals. Despite her knowledge of what should happen next in her experiment, she is not ready to go on.
Noticing Jades apprehension, the teacher provides timely and specific feedback to help boost Jade's confidence so she will take the next step.
After the experiment, the teacher acknowledges Jade's apprehension and provides further positive and specific feedback to reinforce what Jade did to make the experiment a success, in hopes she will remember that for next time.
