  • The Close the Gap Campaign aims to close the health and life expectancy gap between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians within a generation
  •  In 2015–2017, life expectancy at birth for Indigenous Australians was estimated to be 71.6 years for males and 75.6 years for females. In comparison, over the same period life expectancy at birth for non-Indigenous Australians was 80.2 years for males and 83.4 years for females
  • The gap refers to the the vast health and life-expectation inequality between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. This inequality includes shorter life expectancy
  • Overall, the gaps in education have seen some improvement. The aim for 95 per cent of Indigenous four-year-olds to be enrolled in early childhood education by 2025 is on track, with around 86.4 per cent enrolled as of 2018. This is in comparison to 91.3 per cent of non-Indigenous children.
