- Chapter 9 (Johnny dies)
- After they get out of the burning church, they are taken straight to the hospital where Ponyboy meets his brothers. He finally realized that Darry does love him. They ask the nurse about Johnny and Dally's condition and the nurse tells them that Dally will be alright but that Johnny is in critical condition. He broke his back and has third degree burns.
- Chapter 10 (Dally Dies)
- In this scene, the rumble took place. It was the Socs against the Greasers, Tim Shepard's gang, and the Brumly Boys. If the Socs won, things would continue as they use to. But if the Greasers won, the Socs would stay off their turf. Just when the fight was about to start, Dally showed up. The rumble ended with the Greasers winning. Afterward, Dally told Pony that Johnny was calling for him. He drives Pony to the hospital to meet Johnny.
- With Johnny on his death bed, Pony and Dally drive to meet him. Once they reach the hospital, they rush to Johnny's room. It was quiet there. Dally tells Johnny that they won the rumble and Johnny says that fighting is useless. He calls for Ponyboy and his last words were for Ponyboy. "Stay Gold, Ponyboy, Stay Gold."
- After Johnny dies, Dally rushes out of the room. He robs the grocery store and runs to the lot to meet the gang. The police were after him and he pulled out his gun. The gun wasn't loaded but the police started shooting. Dally hit the floor dead.
