  • Like most people of color in the 20th century, Jackie Robinson experienced great racial segregation
  • You colored people stay outside of the cafe where you belong!
  • Lobster Coffees
  • However, Robinson had opportunities to study at college and play college sports
  • He took the opportunities
  • The baseball coach wanted Robinson to be in the team, and had hard time reconciling with other teammates
  • But he's better than anyone on the team right now; we need him to win the championship
  • But we don't want Jackie on the team! He's black!
  • After over 1300 games with 137 Home Runs in the MLB, being the first person of color to play national baseball, Robinson broke the color barrier and caught nationwide attention
  • I guess baseball can be played by black people now, too.
  • He played football, too, but stopped after World War II began
  • He's too good!
  • They're too fast!
  • During two years of World War II, he was the second lieutenant
  • After his military career, he continued baseball, promoting more racial equality
