  • Critical thinking about her education
  • sighting gum in tin foil
  • ¨Now you tell your father not to teach you any more. It´s best to begin reading with a fresh mind. You tell him I´ll take over from here and try to undo the damage-¨ Pg.17 She is an intelligent person because she is young and advanced for knowing how to read, which Atticus tought her how too.The teacher should not interfere with her fathers teaching and she should just focus on teaching and worrying about what she has to do.
  • being bright/making smart choices
  • ¨I was being cheated out of something. Out of what I knew not, yet did not believe that twelve years of unrelieved boredom was exactly what the state had in mind for me¨ Pg.33 Scout is a smart person for making critical thinking about her education. She is trying to see if school is actually a good place for her and if they are actually teaching her well. She should worry about her education because its basically her future and she should tell Atticus.
  • defending her father
  • ¨I stood on tiptoe, hastily looked around once more, reached into the hole, and withdrew two pieces of chewing gum minus their outer wrappers. My first impulse was to get it into my mouth as quickly as possible, but I remembered where I was.¨pg.33 She was being smart by looking around before putting the gum and examing it this practically shows that she is not dumb. She is curious and smart girl.
  • learn your manners lady
  • ¨Get the tire!¨¨When I was able to navigate, I ran back to them as fast as my shaking knees would carry me.¨¨Why didn´t you bring it?¨ Jem yelled. ¨Why don´t you get it?¨I screamed. Pg.38 She is making a smart choice and not listening to others.Even though Jem told her and she loves him a lot, she still disobeyed him and that was smart of her, that is practically showing her making of smart choices.
  • ¨This time, I split my knuckle to the bone on his front teeth. My left impaired, I sailed in my right, but not for long. Uncle Jack pinned my arms to my sides and said, ¨Stand still!¨ Pg.84 Scout is being brave by defending her father and not being afraid to stand up for others.  Even though she hit her cousin she was not afraid because she probably does not want anyone disrespecting her father because she loves him a lot.
  • I´ll be here a week, and I don´t want to hear any words like that while I´m here. Scout, you´ll get in trouble if you go around saying things like that. You want to grow up to be a lady, don´t you?¨¨I said not particularly.¨ Pg.79 I think that scout should learn how to be more like a lady or else when she´s older they might call her stuff or make fun of her. That was quite good that her uncle pointed it out because Atticus has yet not tought her that because she is still a small little girl.
