  • A gentler judgement vanished from his lips: Not body's death, but body's banishment.
  • At the beginning of scene 1 Mercutio fights Tybalt and dies. Originally Romeo was trying to stop the fighting but once Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo avenged him and killed Tybalt. Because of all this fighting the prince banishes Romeo from Verona.

  • I will, and know her mind early tomorrow. Tonight she's mewed up to her heaviness.
  • These times of woe afford no times to woo.- Madam, good night. Commend me to your daughter.
  • In scene 2 Juliet is waiting to hear from Romeo when the nurse stumbles in. She is talking to fast and makes it sound like Romeo is dead. She assumes that Romeo has killed himself but soon the nurse explains how Tybalt is dead and Romeo is banished. The nurse tells her how she knows where Romeo is and can get in contact.

  • Hand thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch!I tell thee: get thee to church o' Thursday, or never look me in the face.
  • Good father, I beseech you on my knees, Hear me with good patience but to speak a word.
  • In friar Lawrence's cell Romeo hears that his punishment was banishment. He thinks that is far worse than death because he now has to live without juliet. Friar Lawrence gives him reasons to be grateful and when the nurse comes to give Romeo Juliet's ring, his spirit rises again. They have a plan to see Juliet one more time and then Romeo leaves Verona and waits.
  • In scene 4 Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Paris are walking together. Paris is worried about asking Juliet to marriage and her feelings. Capulet says that he doesn't think but knows that his daughter will listen to him about her marriage to Paris. They set the wedding day to Thursday.
  • In scene 5 as Romeo escapes from Juliet's window Capulet and Lady Capulet enter her room explaining about the wedding on wednesday to Paris. Juliet explains how she doesn't want to marry Paris and when her parents hear her defy them they get very angry and storm out of the room. Juliet seeks help from the Nurse but the nurse says she should marry Paris. Juliet pretends to agree and leaves for Friar's.
