- Penny Physical traits: Penny is 3 years old Character traits: Penny is silly, friendly, loving, ignorant of Melody's condition, and well-behaved Significant moment: On page 38, the text says that Penny was nice to Melody even though she caouldn't do what she could.
- Mom Physcal traits: Mom is an adult Character traits: Mom is protective, defensive, inclusive, intuitive, and has strong feelings. Significant Moment: On page 17, she yelled at a doctor because he claimed that Melody was brain-damaged, but she knew that she wasn't.
- Mrs. V Physical traits: Mrs. V has large hands, wears flowing dresses with strange color combinations, and is about 6 feet tall. Character traits: Mrs. V is understanding, ambitious, persistent, kind, and shows no sympathy. Significant moment: On page 24, she makes Melody roll over on the rug instead of babying her like her parents do.
