Bloody Sunday happened when the people protested against the Winter Palace, and imperial forces fired at them, killing and wounding hundreds. Riots occurred across the country in response to the massacre.
Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905)
The march revolution caused the empire, ruled by Tsar Nicholas II, to collapse and marxian socialism began to rise under Lenin and the Bolsheviks. It also finally removed Russia from World War I.
Treaty of Brest-Litovsk (1918)
Russia became the Soviet Union on December 29th, 1922 after a conference meeting declaring the creation of the USSR.
Lenin's death and Results (1924)
The Russo-Japanese war occurred because the Russian and Japanese Empires couldn't agree over who should get parts of Korea and Manchuria. The Russians lost. This war is significant because it's the first non-European power to defeat one of the European great powers.
The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was the thing that officially ended Russia's participation in World War I. It was signed between the Central powers (German Empire, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire) and the Bolsheviks.
Lenin died of a hemorrhagic stroke on January 21st, 1924 at the age of 54. Stalin gained control of Russia after his death, beginning his reign of terror from 1924 to his death in 1953.
