Many moved west out of the fact that congress was offering 160 acres of land free also that many wanted to have a farm or land.
after congress offered the land thousands started moving west many of which were rich families who would start plantnations in the west
With moving west towns began to form this meant they would want recognition
•Farmers in the west wanted to notice by the government so they could get more supplies to farm with.
also with the coming of the populist party many wanted to be recognized by the state and to have a direct say into who becomes the senate
eventually many farmers had closer relations with the east in trade also
