As Georg declined Ulrich's offer for the wine flask, Ulrich remained quiet. Hurt that his offer went unappreciated, Ulrich grew sad, and began to feel infuriated.
In amidst of his pouting, Ulrich began to notice a change in his position. While under the tree, he was able to wiggle out his arm from underneath him, and wiggle his upper body out of the tree.
"What do you think you're doing?" asked Georg. "I'm escaping, you rat!" replied Ulrich. With his arms now free, Ulrich managed to strain against the tree, and free his legs.
"Hey!" yelled Georg, "help me out here!" "Oh," replied Ulrich, "so NOW you want to be friends, don't you? It seems that you missed your opportunity five minutes ago."
"Please!" wept Georg. "You can't leave a man out here like this!" "Oh, but you're no man," sternly replied Ulrich. Leaving it at that, Ulrich began to walk away, and didn't bother to look behind him.
Deeply saddened and left alone, Georg began to sob. No one else was out there to help him, and no one could hear him. After three harsh days, Georg passed out, and never woke back up...
