  • Meeting the Shaman
  • The Sweat Lodge
  • Fasting and Praying
  • oh great spirit...
  • Today is the day that I visit the Shaman, which is always very exciting. The Shaman is very respected in our community due to his performing of ceremonies using medicines/herbs and kmowledge. Not only this, but the Shaman uses his powers for the benefit of the communit. I cannot wait to meet him!
  • Revision arrived of the spirit helper
  • After speaking with the Shaman, the verdict is that I will be going into a sweat lodge; he says it is a great way to purify the body, mind, spirit, heart, and restore relationoships with yourself, others and the creator.
  • The return home
  • The sweat lodge is a sacred space. Essentially a closed structure with a pit wjere heated rocls are placed. The sweat leader pours water on the hot rocks to create steam. I am meant to pray, talk or meditate as I sit until I have a vision.
  • The elders interpretation
  • After four days of praying, I finally had a vision. It took place in the out doors, and included several animals especially the bald eagle and a totem pole. I believe the creator was in the body of the eagle. The eagle was leading me around the outdoors and we swam in the waterfall. It was pretty confusing.
  • Finally, it was over. It was a struggle and very difficlut, but it was such a different and amazing experience. When I first came out, I knew it was time to eat; because I went four days without food. After I ate, the first thing I had to do was go to the Elders so they could translate the vision I had.
  • I was very interested to see what the elder had to say about the vision I had, but I knew it was going to be good. After hours and hours of conversation with the elder, my vision turned out to be very positive and good. I recommend the sweat lodge for everyone, it was such a different experience that is absolutely unforgetable.
