Mr. Williams: Good morning class. Today we will be learning how to add double digit numbers. I will be giving out homework by the end of class.
The students feel differently about math. Lizzie was confused the whole time Mr. Williams was explaining the lesson. Mandy was uninterested, while Josh was carefully listening.
Mr. Williams finished teaching the class about adding double digit numbers so he started writing down a problem on the board. Mr. Williams: Who can solve this problem? I will give a homework pass to whoever gets it right!
Lizzie looked more confused than before. She was worried about the homework because she doesn't understand the lesson. Meanwhile, Josh raised his hand to solve the problem written on the board.
Josh confidently went to the board to solve the problem. Mr. Williams looked so proud of Josh. After Josh was done, Mr. Williams rewarded him with the homework pass.
Mr. Williams said to start with the right side first, then move on to the left. That's important to keep in mind when doing problems like this. Yet, Lizzie is still confused.
