Hi everyone! The learning theory that best fits my learning style is Experiential learning which is known as the process of learning through experience, or learning by doing.
Being a math student significantly shaped my learning style. I find practicing and solving math problems as the best way to understand and learn about various topics. It also helps me perform better by avoiding making errors on tests.
An example of experiential learning in Universities is laboratory classes where we interact with other classmates and solve problems together.
The main advantages of Experiential learning is that it helps us retain information faster, enhances our understanding and helps us develop important skills such as problem solving and critical thinking.
Can you explain how this learning approach is used in EM203?
So far, the learning by doing approach has been used several times. We had to learn how to make a comic strip to introduce ourselves. We also had to learn a new task (knitting, singing, dancing, etc..).
In addition, the weekly twitter challenges help us learn about the different functionalities of twitter by actually doing the tasks.
How did you use this learning approach in this assignment?
I chose to create a storyboard which is something that i never attempted to use before. I looked at some sample storyboards to generate ideas. I learned how to create it by doing it and by using trial and error.
In this century, technology is evolving rapidly and is changing the way that we learn. It gives us the ability to access many sources of information anytime, anywhere. The discussion boards enhanced my learning experience and clarified some topics. Interacting with other classmates on twitter helped me consider the various different opinions and perspectives of people.
