I was exploring in the Kakadu´s Paperbark Wetlands in the early wet season.
Although the ranger told me the currents were too strong and there was crocodiles that could attack at any moment, I ventured into East Alligator Lagoon for the first time.
After hours of going through a maze (of rain and wind), I pulled over my canoe and suddenly felt a feeling that I was being watched. I felt a presence of menacing.
I pulled my canoe back into the main current. The current pushed me towards a stick and as I got closer the stick developed eyes. A crocodile!
I got out of my canoe to shore but it managed to pull me underwater into a death roll 3 times. I managed to escape and cowered as I waited for rescue.
