  • Sadly, the war was still going on! Neither the Trojans nor the Greeks would surrender.
  • The Greeks would gladly stop fighting with the Trojans but since the Trojans never sent Helen back to Menelaus, they couldn't surrender because it would make them look like cowards.
  • I am so sorry Helen.
  • Why can't they just let me go back and stop fighting?!
  • The gods grew worried that the war would never end. So, Athena put an idea in Odysseus's head. They should build a wooden horse and have people hide in it and send it to Troy.
  • I'll send this down to them!
  • The Greeks made a wooden horse and left it at the gate of Troy. The horse was a gift of surrender, and when the Trojans checked the Greek camp by the sea, everything was gone! The Trojans thought that the Greeks finally gave up and they started celebrated.
  • Whoooooooo!

  • The Trojans didn't know, but the best Greek fighters were actually waiting in the belly of the horse. As soon as the Trojans brought the horse into Troy, the Greeks lept out of the horse and invaded Troy!
  • During the chaos, Odysseus found Helen. As he was talking with her, Menelaus came in and was about to kill her. Odysseus asked Menelaus to spare her life and as all the other Trojans were taken away as slaves, Helen was escorted on the Greek ship like a queen.
