Storyboard Text

  • OMG! Look at that beautiful flower over there. It's all by itself
  • Ughh! I don't like our new house :(
  • Photosynthesis involves sunlight, water, and CO2 (Carbon Dioxide)
  • Lexi, do you know how plants grow?
  • Yes I do Sonya and I'm glad you asked! They grow because of a process called photosynthesis
  • Photosynthesis- The process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water.
  • Photo... What?
  • Photosynthesis! its the process that all types of plants use it to grow
  • Plants are autotrophs, which means they make their own energy.
  • stThe reactants are taken in by their leaves. In their leaves are organelles called chloroplasts which contain chlorophyll
  • What else do the cells in the plants do?
  • Well, cells called Guard Cells close the stomata at night to keep the plant from loosing too much water
  • Carbon Dioxide enters and water exits through tiny pores called stomata
  • I can't wait to tell mom what I learned today!
  • Phloem carries the products of photosynthesis ( sucrose and glucose) from the plants leaves to other parts of the plant
  • Xylem transports water from a plants root to it's leaves.
