  • This is DEFINITELY your stupid hamartia because I've never been unfaithful to you, my love.
  • I am so jealous I can't think straight! My jealousy is my tragic flaw. My jealous will eventually lead to my own death.
  • My whole plan depends on your incredible hubris!
  • I am so conceited. My arrogance will eventually lead to my own death.
  • I am going to smother you with a pillow. This is the moment of peripeteia!
  • This is a total disaster!!
  • Hamartia is a "tragic flaw" within the hero. Othello's hamartia is that he gets VERY JEALOUS VERY EASILY
  • Iago is a total liar! Desdemona has always been loyal to you, Othello! Do you realize what you have done?
  • Oh no!
  • Hubris means pride, arrogance or being conceited. Othello has incredible hubris because he is really conceited.
  • I am your external nemesis!
  • I am your internal nemesis!
  • Peripeteia is the moment disaster strikes. Peripeteia occurs when Othello smothers Desdemona with a pillow.
  • Iago - you are under arrest! You are a liar and a traitor!
  • Anagnorisis is the discovery of really important information. Anagnorisis occurs when Othello discovers that Iago has been lying to him all along.
  • I am going to kill you because of this anagnorisis!
  • Nemesis means enemy. A character can have external enemies (like Iago) and internal enemies (like jealousy)
  • I never realized I had internal and external enemies.....
  • Catharsis is the feeling of relief or satisfaction at the end of the tragedy. How cathartic do you feel at the end of Othello?
  • I wonder if anyone in the audience feels satisfied with the resolution of this tragedy. If they are feeling satisfied, they are feeling catharsis.
