Storyboard Text

  • The man is sitting, but then he hears a knock on the front door. The text says "While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping; As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. 'Tis some visitor...Only this and nothing more.'" This text shows how this man was almost napping, when he hears knocking. He is confused as to who it is.
  • The Raven, which flew into his house, tells the man that he will never see Lenore, his lost wife, again. This man is very sad about this. The text says "Quoth the Raven 'Nevermore', 'Prophet!' said I, 'Thing of evil...On this home by Horror haunted-tell me truly, I implore-Is there-is there balm in Gilead?-tell me-tell me, I implore!'" This shows how after the Raven tells the man this, the man gets angry and tries to get a different answer.
  • The Raven casts a shadow on the man, and he is very sad. The text says "And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor; Shall be lifted-nevermore!" This text shows how the man thinks that his soul, and his happiness, will never return to him.
