Storyboard Text

  • There are different types of cocaine?
  • Wow! Then I guess I'll try the powdered cocaine.
  • Of course! Crack is smoked, while powdered is snorted or injected, and crack is more intense and immediate but lasts shorter than powdered. My tip, the high lasts longer if you snort the powder.
  • So, kid, you want powdered or crack?
  • A few weeks later...
  • I'm so happy I got into this 'coke' thing, even though the high only lasts an hour. I never get hungry, and I'm always energetic! I don't get tired or sleepy anymore either! I even got some new friends, because we had this in common. I had another muscle spasm again today though, maybe I should tell mom about it.
  • In the short term, cocaine dilates pupils, increases body temperature and heart rate, makes the addict more talkative, and makes the addict feel more anxious, angry and paranoid.
  • Hmm, Mom seems a lot skinnier...  and sadder...
  • Um... Mom?
  • Hey Mom, I've recently been getting those muscle spasms you used to have, remember? And--
  • In the long term, cocaine causes significant weight loss (possibly malnourishment), increases risks of stroke (bleeding within brain), causes movement disorders, and can cause memory loss, depression, and paranoia.
  • I'm sorry, what? I have a headache...
  • I think I'm going to... *faints*
  • A few moments later...
  • We found some drugs in her system that created the blood clots in her blood vessels... did she ever...?
  • I'm sorry sir, she passed away from a heart attack...
  • This is when Jake realized the dangers of taking cocaine, and decided to get some treatment for his addiction.
  • NO! Mom...
  • ... Yes ...
  • Later that week...
  • Hi, is  this where I go if I want to treat my cocaine addiction?
  • Ok, when do I start!
  • Yes! Here we will help you recover from your addiction through treatment, such as therapy, relapse prevention training, addiction education, learning effective coping strategies, and providing a sober network of suport!
  • 10 Years Later...
  • I'm so glad I stopped taking cocaine and got treatment. I now have a family, and am content with my life.
