Meanwhile, on West Berlin, people progressed, were happy and loved the new Berlin. This contrast made people leave from the East to the West.

To solve this issue, in 1961, East German soldiers established a barbed-wire, which quickly turned into a concrete wall, in the border of the regions. Whoever tried to cross was to be killed by border guards.
