Heat and pressure is causing the layers to show Metamorphic rock.
Solidification of magma and lava forms Igneous rock. There are two types of Igneous rock, intrusive and extrusive. Intrusive rocks form in the earths surface and extrusive rocks form outside of earths surface forming volcanic rocks.
Sedimentary rock is formed from compaction and cementation of sediments. The sediments are formed when weathering and erosion break down rock into loose pieces.
Metamorphic rock forms from other rocks like Igneous and Sedimentary. Metamorphic rock changes by heat and pressure and chemical reaction. The heat and pressure makes the rock form in layers.
Wow! That's cool! I didn't know that!
Rocks that go threw a process of changing over the years is called the rock cycle.
You may be wondering how the rock cycle affects you. It affects us and the universe because the rock cycle shows how rocks are formed.
Some facts about the rock cycle are: -there are 2 types of Igneous rock (intrusive and extrusive) -the rock cycle is never ending -2 very important words in the rock cycle are compaction and cementation
