  • Hello Fred, my name is Sue.  I will be looking after you today.  I am going to do some observations. 
  • Hmm, he doesn't look very well.
  • Fred I am a little concerned about your blood pressure and pulse rate.  I am going to call the doctor to review you
  • Ohhhhhh, the pain
  • I'm calling a MET call 
  • Alarm sounded
  • We have a MET call in room 6, Fred was admitted early with severe abdominal pain
  • What is his history?
  • Fred's BP 90/50, P120, R22. His abdomen is rigid and tender. He also vomited 50mls of blood
  • I'm going to be sick again.
  • What has happened?
  • Thank you Doctor.  Following the criteria helps identify problems early
  • Good call Sue, you identified the problem & followed the escalation flowchart .  Fred will be Ok, we repaired his bleeding Duodenal Ulcer
