Storyboard Description

In the story written by William Faulkner, the story of "A Rose for Emily", is about the universal truth of loss and desperation. The story begins with Miss Emily's' death and works back, showing flashbacks on her past life. When Miss Emily's father passed away, she couldn't deal with the change. She preferred to stay within a conservative manner. Miss Emily after her fathers incident never went out of her home. She became isolated. Afterwards she couldn't deal with another love lost that she was desperate for someone to stay by her side. That person she wanted and choose was Homer Barron. She was desperate for someone that she did everything she could so that person would not leave her. The moral of this story i believe is that It is okay for things to change. At first yes it is going to be a challenge but one should not go out of their way to find someone and make them stay (like Emily did with Homer). One should just let it be and keep an open mind on the future and what will happen.

  • In the year of 1984 in Jefferson, Miss Emily had just lost her father. Miss Emily was a very isolated woman after the tragic incident. She no longer stepped outside of her house, nor had any interest to become familiar with the things being introduced around the town. Miss Emily in this town was known as a mysterious woman, due to the fact that no one knew what she was doing inside the house by herself. All of what the people knew were rumors.
  • Climax
  • Miss Emily had isolated her self in her house. She is scared to leave due to the fact that she is not okay with change and doesn’t really want to confront the real world. She is terrified of being abandoned, that even when her father died she denied it for 4 days.
  • Falling Action
  • Before her father had past away, Miss Emily had Homer Barron for company. The town would always see the two together and would make rumors about them. Some thought that they wouldn’t last, or that they will marry and be happy, and others just thought nothing would happen due to his interest in men. Miss Emily was happy with Homer and knew that she couldn’t let him leave. She was desperate for company. One day the town saw that she bought arsenic and men tolietries. This had seemed to be a mystery for the towns people because after that they never saw Homer around again. He had disappeared.
  • Resolution
  • Homer Barron was dead in a room in Miss Emilys house. The room was filled with dust and was furnished for bridal. Homer was laying in the bed in a position in which his arms were giving a hug. This was the reason for the smell around the house, it was his decaying body.
  • New leaders are taking into position as the years go on in Jefferson. They insist that Miss Emily needs to pay her taxes. Two men from the town went to Miss Emilys house to speak to her about making payments. When they entered the house, it was all dirty and dusty with a dank smell. Miss Emily tells them to speak with Col. Satoris, because she knows that after her father had passed away, he said that she didn’t need to pay them, what she did not know was that Col. Saltoris have been dead. This shows that Miss Emily has not been out and doesn not know what is happening around the town.
  • I owe nothing to Jefferson !
  • Miss Emily was sick for a long time and died. Many people from the town go to her house, not to pay respect but to figure out all the mysterious. People thought she was crazy.
