  • Akbar was born on October 15, 1542.  His father was Humayun who  was an emperor and son of Babur, the founder of the Mughal empire.
  • Akbar became enthroned at age 14. He dismissed  Bairam Khan and took full control of the government.
  • As ruler,  Akbar was very tolerant. He participated in Hindu festivals, removed tax on non-Muslims, and married people of different religions.
  • We are one!
  • Akbar gave us,    bureaucrats,    land!
  • That is good, though. That way, aristocracy would not form.
  • When my cousin died, he took the land back.  
  • Akbar used cannons and named native Indians officials.
  • Akbar died in 1605. Jahangir, his son, was his successor.
